Venture Wall

Each semester, Harvard Innovation Labs welcomes new student ventures—yet lacked a cohesive, repeatable way to visually represent them in the space or in photography. The challenge wasn’t just logistical, but also brand-driven: how could the environment reflect the energy, values, and diversity of the teams it supports?

The Opportunity

I designed and fabricated a custom acrylic backdrop with dimensional foam lettering. Subtly embedded in the composition were key values and concepts that define the i-lab’s mission: experiment, explore, ideas, impact, etc. The installation served dual purposes — an architectural feature that energized the space, and a photographic backdrop for all venture portraits.

To bring visibility to these ventures, I created a modular clipboard wall showcasing teams from each semester. The design incorporated the new portraits and allowed for flexible updates, making it easy to refresh while maintaining brand consistency.

What I did

  • Designed and produced a custom acrylic and foam letter installation

  • Embedded i-lab brand values into the physical design for layered meaning

  • Photographed all incoming venture teams using the installation as a dynamic backdrop

  • Built a modular clipboard wall that featured venture portraits and team information

  • Created a repeatable system that streamlined photography and improved visual documentation

Outcome

The installation became a functional and symbolic anchor in the i-lab space. It provided a consistent, on-brand backdrop for all venture photography and helped connect new teams to the broader ecosystem. The clipboard wall installation added visibility and celebration — turning transient teams into a lasting presence and fostering a stronger sense of community.
